Diaper/Potty training week two

jbird potty trainingSchool decided they wanted Maggie sent in underwear and jeans Monday of last week as they thought she was ready.

This of course happened on the day I was flying to Las Vegas to be at CES already feeling guilty for going, leaving ITmama with the babies, and now a slew of pee and poo soiled clothing.

So far school potty training seems to be going well, but when she gets back to the house she tends to forget that whole not wanting to pee one’s self business and claims she doesn’t need to potty, then goes in another room and bam. Explosion.

Seriously, last night she was walking out of the living room and I asked her if she needed to go. No. Under a minute later I hear some plaintive cries coming from the other room and she’s annoyed because there’s pee on her feet.

We still put her to bed in diapers, she’s woken up dry several times, but not some others. So we’ll keep on doing that for a while.

What’s really helped with getting her onto the potty is some entertainment. We usually let her play a video or two on YouTube kids while she’s on the pot. Only problem with this is she’ll keep claiming she wants to be on the potty until her rump is red.

I’m not particularly picking up on anything we can do much better here except to get a potty watch, which tells kids when it’s time to go and takes the telling out of the adult hands. I’m not entirely sure that would help at all, it was just something I was reading some product literature for at some point either during or before CES.

Not really feeling that things are going badly, but they’re not going perfectly. This is an interesting place to be in because I feel that all of our history is either things working horribly, or perfectly. This grey sometimes-poo ridden area is a new one.
