Reminder: Download your kids movies before hitting the road

Amazon Instant VideoWith the advent of streaming services such as Google Play and Amazon Prime you’ve got a way to entertain your child on a roadtrip with their favorite movies.

Before you head out on the road make sure the videos are downloaded to your device or your child may experience the hellish buffering reminiscent of RealPlayer back in the day if you’re attempting to stream over the air.

Also make sure that you’ve got the devices charged and some way to charge them in the event you’re stuck much longer on the road than you planned.

So spend the last day of work sucking down the company’s bandwidth so you’ve got your high def copy of Frozen available on your iPad, Kindle, or various Android device for the roadtrip to Grandmother’s house.

Google Play Movies - the Avengers

One of the things I’ve been more and more fascinated about the times are children now actually can be entertained in the car as opposed to the screaming boredom I suffered as a child in the half day treks of my youth. Well, as long as your child doesn’t get motion sickness.

Offline viewingIf you’ve previously downloaded a video to your tablet, make sure it’s still good as some streaming services will make your offline video stop working after a certain period of disconnection from the internet, or when you reach a certain number of videos on all devices you’ve downloaded videos to.

Basically check in, make sure it’s still working, drive safe and remember you’re the best protection¬†your child has on the road.
