Maggie’s been here for a little over a year, and I think on average she’s been not sick for a week and a half at most. While I’d expect that a baby is going to get everything, I didn’t expect that me and ITMama were going to be hammered with concentrated baby illness constantly.
It’s not something I’d ever assumed, but in twelve months there hasn’t been one that hasn’t had a cold, flu, upper respiratory illness, allergies, etc. Sometimes I’d catch something from Maggie, and I would have it clear on through to when she caught something else and I’d catch that while getting better.
I never imagined there was that much sickness involved in parenting.
Luckily the payoff is I have a cute little bundle of happy about two to three hours a day, a bundle of adorably tolerable another two to three hours a day, and finally a bundle of breaking down snotty mess a little bit more.
I’m unsure how exactly to feel dealing with a human being who changes mood every eleven seconds and has the memory of a goldfish, however even with being sick with next to everything imaginable it’s been good.
I will admit to waking wishing she’d sleep another hour or two quite often, but other than that I’m actually mostly enjoying this deal.
I’m hoping all of our immune systems pick up and we don’t have years more sickness to come.
