We had a bit of time yesterday to drop by our local Bass Pro Shops where for some reason they had an Easter Bunny photo shoot for free. After missing a photo with Santa due to multi-hour lines, and after Gnash from the Nashville Predators didn’t show up for a photo with her, this was her first sitting with a person in a costume.
I wasn’t sure how she was going to react. She doesn’t have stranger danger yet, which supposedly means we abuse her according to one quackpot doctor I’ve heard reference to.
The line was longer than I expected it to be. I’m pretty good at figuring out lines and times, but I’d never done a line where each person could potentially have three little babies with them, and my 17 minute estimated wait time was 100% wrong.
The line kept moving without incident, photos were being taken with the rabbit, Maggie was being amused by everything around her and other than having to hold her it was an idea situation. Then when were were about four or five shots away from the rabbit, the plaintive shrieks of a terrified child frightened out of her wits came from in front of us.
A girl of two or three was in fear for her life and part of me thought that the best thing to do at that point would have been to remove the child from that situation, but the rest of me agreed with what the mother did which was go up and talk to the bunny and introduce the terrified child, who was no longer terrified.
Their photo came and went, our turn came up and ITMama took Maggie and put her on the bunny. She behaved, looked cute, and other than turning to look at the Easter manifestation there was nothing that happened that messed with an adorable photo.
Afterwards we went and watched some fish at the indoor huge fishtank they have, took 3/4ths of a stroll around the mall with a happy baby and about 1/4th remainder stroll with a child who all the fun had run out of.
Still trying to estimate that crash time, but we got it within 15 minutes this time. A drive home, a nap, all good.
