theITbaby (may) be moving Wednesday

Japanese Archer for no particular reasonSo I’ve talked a bit before about how theITbaby is hosted in house, what I haven’t mentioned is that I’ve been on a Comcast Business account for quite a while due to that absurd amounts of data we transfer back and forth between work and home.

Well, work is no longer pushing over 200 gigs a month at me, and we’ve got new and better ways to do things, so the time came to give up the completely paid for business line and go with the exact same residential line + cable + phone.

When the business account is dropped I’ll be on residential / non commercial and will now be bound by Comcast’s home service agreement, which I’m going to be examining tonight and tomorrow for what I’m allowed to use it for, but the assumption is that if I make money and run a commercial entity off of a residential account I will be in violation.

So the site may be down and moved on Wednesday, I’ve got the new location set up and ready to go and all bells and whistles and mostly the same hardware running on the other end. So other than the site being down while it’s copied to a USB drive and driven elsewhere there will be nothing different.

That’s the beauty with virtual servers.

But we’ll see what Comcast’s rules are on a non-shilling baby blog that contains links with codes before I commit to taking this elsewhere. It’s been nice having it where I can play with it at any point.

Anyway, that’s just a status update as I spent most of today computerless and didn’t get a chance to write what I wanted to write about a baby product that did exactly the opposite of what was intended.

  • Unfortunately the computer we were moving to is somewhat toast at the moment….
