A story that perhaps can only be told in video – The Archer

Japanese Archer

One of the things I do at work on Wednesdays when Maggie accompanies me is early in the morning when she’s an angel and pretty happy we make the rounds to see everyone. My theory on this is that at some point she’s going to be demon baby, it’s happened once before, and perhaps it’s best if people get to see her as not a psycho hell beast.

This display of the sweet child usually also gets me the items I need to do for the day as I’ll be in contact with everyone, so everyone wins in this situation – baby gets oohed and ahhhd over, I get the info I need, co-workers get to see cute baby and return it.

Today one of my employers had his hand grabbed by Maggie, and then said to me that that was the secret to archery,

“What, ” asked I, “is the secret?”

“What the baby does.”

“Lay on their back for seven months and snore?”

“No, how they release a hand when they’re holding it. That’s how you release the bow string”

He proceeded to place his finger into Maggie’s hand, she gripped it, and like she normally does she shook it until she finally lost her grip on his finger due to flinging his hand around.

I mentioned that this was not what I recalled of archery from when I was a kid. He repeated his attempted demonstration and much like the last time there was violent shaking before his finger fell out of her hand.

“Ah yes,” said I. “I must have missed that point in The Hunger Games when the archer flails around like a mad woman before releasing her arrows.” At this point to imagine the story, you should imagine an epileptic archer having an attack before flinging an arrow through the air, reloading, and repeating the seizure.

“You must have a defective baby”
