My most beloved Target – we need to talk

Maggie in the Target Shopping cartDearest Target – you’ve always been my number one go-to place for a wide selection of baby items in an atmosphere where I don’t feel like I’m going to get knifed in the parking lot, but you’re not making it easy to love you with the newest plastic shopping carts.

Here’s the scenario – every other store I go to I can easily put my car set up at the handle, lock it in, and bam, baby’s secure. At Target it’s now a game of mine to spot the carseat in the parent’s shopping cart.

My local Target has 8 aisles devoted to baby products, two devoted to car seats for infants, and as far as I can tell no carts capable of dealing with a carseat anywhere but in the main basket. This ends up with baby being towered over by a stack of product in the upper seat, or pre-chewing my new pair of shorts.

In short, it’s not a particularly ideal situation since most stores that are not as awesome as Target for infant needs you just park somewhere near the cart return, haul baby a parking space or two, and then use the shopping cart as a stroller from the parking lot on in.

I’ve looked around just to make sure there are no random mutant shopping carts at the past couple of Targets I’ve been to, and there are a couple of odd larger mods for toddlers I’ve seen parked in the stalls, but the babies have been relegated to low-riding in the cart / not highly visible to anyone who might be considering ramming your cart.

Now, don’t get me wrong, the carts are pretty freaking sweet that you do have, I wouldn’t get rid of them but it would be nice to have at least some with hook gear for car seats instead of the nicely rounded backing that you have currently.

Other than that and a really bizarre Target lady run in I just had, you still rock…
