Baby’s first solid food. Semi solid. Actually slimy mush

Earth's Best Rice CerealSo Maggie has started somewhat eating. She seems to really enjoy it now as opposed to a few days ago when her tongue was mostly used to push rice mash back out.

We’ve got some Earth’s Best Organic Rice Cereal for about a dollar at Essex Bargain Hunt for baby’s first solid food and with the aid of a tiny spoon our friends gave us have been working on shoveling rice gruel into Baby’s mouth every couple of days.

At least with Baby M it seems the trick is to feed her some, act like you’re amazed it’s in her mouth, then follow with a milk chaser so it actually goes down her throat.

Wile I think a little bit more of the gruel/mash combo is going on her chin, at least some is getting in and there’s no fighting. Every night she’s had a little gruel, she seems to sleep pretty well. However, I don’t think she gets enough in her to do much that would enhance sleeping, but it’s nice to imagine these things.

So, at our current rate of consumption we will go through that bag that they’re trying to charge $8 for in roughly five years. I’m not sure what the exact difference between organic rice mush and non-organic rice mush that mostly fill sup baby’s chest and chair region, but it’s not something I would pay that amount for.

Overall starting feeding at four months seems to have been the right thing to do. She’d been eyeing my food for quite a while and although I think this tasteless nutritionless mush doesn’t really do much for her, I think it’s giving her some confidence that at least someday the pizza and cheese sticks will be hers.

Up next on baby food club, I think ITMama is planning on making her some sweet potato mash mixed with formula, bib, and onesie.

On a side note, anyone other than me find it creepy that the babies on the package are laboring in a field wielding farm equipment. Babies of the corn.
