Daycare: T-5 days – daddy and baby at work – a running descent into madness?

Maggie preparing to strikeWednesday (forgot what day it was already) – I’ve got a server upgrade, Google went down for the Southeast at least, printer install, one of the computers that was supposed to be here yesterday isn’t even built yet, and Maggie’s having a meltdown at work.

10am after poocano, Google outage, and realizing that Bing just can’t cut it for what i need, I’ve got printer installed, online, and am on hold right now editing this while mooshoo snoozes.

10:20am have to go fight a Jinitiator issue with a bank site on accounting computer. Maggie is passed out (cute picture not synced yet)

I’ll skip the timeline for this point. The upgrade to our little accounting database is roughly 16 times the size I thought it would be. As an IT guy today’s been the day I’m needed. Maggie’s also decided to increase the level of baby difficulty to about an 8 with constant requirements for attention, naps, food, but mostly wanting to be held.

It’s almost 1pm now, both my arms are shot from hours holding baby M and attempting to type out commands to fix this bloated old VMware server that’s been running since 2004 so an accounting package coming in at over 2 gigabytes can be installed on it.

Meh!

2:20 the wails of the child could be heard by many, but nobody seemed to care. She’s calmed down and is sleeping a bit. It was like her 7pm freakout was happening at noon today, but I think it’s because she’s bored being in baby prison.

7PM have been home for a bit, rainstorm, blown up servers, slowness all around, probably the most stressed I have been at work in the past 8 years. Baby refused to ever sleep for more than 10 minutes at a time, if I walked out it was crying time, did not want to be in a chair so I could use both hands, and then freaked out most of the way home and afterward.

Have swaddled her to calm her down, but she loses pacifier every 10 minutes and it’s freakout time again. Not sure what happened to the decent tempered day baby I had.

  • Were gonna keep running into that since we only have 3 day a week care, too.
