Nest releasing remote room temperature sensors

Nest Temperature SensorIf you’ve got an older home and a Nest Learning Thermostat, you may have already run into what we have encountered – the hallway where the thermostat is located and the baby room are completely different climates.

In our house the kids rooms can be 80 degrees and the hallway 70 if the doors are closed. This has lead to a couple of nights of a little one wandering up and asking why it’s so flipping hot in her room.

So Nest is releasing a remote sensor for your learning thermostat April of 2018. You can pre-order as of now.

You’ll need a 3rd Gen Nest Learning Thermostat or a Nest Thermostat E or better.

The Nest Temperature Sensors are shipping sometime in April, and you can pre-order one for $40 or three for $99 as of current pricing.

My guess is they’ll let you prioritize rooms by time, but there are no demos of how the new software is going to work. Hopefully you’ll be able to set it to maintain some sort of balance by either circulating the air or kicking on the heating and cooling without freezing or boiling baby’s room.
