Save time tracking down chirping smoke detector with this simple hack

9volt batteries

If you’re like me when you had kids you probably went and got some new smoke detectors, and come a year or so down the road you’re standing in your underwear at 3am attempting to figure out if it’s the baby room, your older kid’s room, out in the hallway, or what the hell is chirping every two minutes.

This one simple hack will save you from 10-15 minutes of having your head cocked like a madman listening for which detector is low on juice.

Chirping Smoke Detectors

Replace all the batteries at the same time. No more chirping smoke detector. Done.

But wait,” you say! “The others are not chirping.” No, but they will soon enough. You’re obviously not changing these things during time changes or when you’re supposed to, so just replace them all when one goes out and you’ll save two or three late night chirping events.

9 Volt batteries are cheap. Smoke detectors are cheap. Lives are not. Losing sleep over a chirping low battery is not. So just replace them all at the same time and save yourself some headaches.
