It’s been a few days of more teething pains that seem to dictate the baby’s mood. We’re at the maximum amount of painkiller for her weight and seriously considering going with some topical treatment to return our otherwise awesome baby to us in the times between dosing her with Baby Advil.
Our current dose schedule is just a titch under 2ml every six hours, unfortunately I believe Maggie has inherited my ability to cast off painkillers pretty quickly. Other than that I think Christmas is rolling right along on schedule except we didn’t manage to get Maggie’s picture with Santa yesterday and any attempts at this point forward involve going into a mall with three days to Christmas. No.
Other than that, our nearly nine month infant has decided that she must sleep in our bed, sleep wrapped around my neck, and prevent me from sleeping if at all possible. Unfortunately with the teething pain medicine schedule, her sleeping schedule, and my sleeping schedule, this has lead to a couple of nights of no sleep whatsoever in the past week.
Maggie’s got a bunch of toys for Christmas, there didn’t seem to be much of a reason to make her wait as she’s got no concept of Christmas whatsoever and will enjoy playing with our wrapping paper when the time to open things finally comes.
At the moment all I want for Christmas is for her teething pains to be abated so she (and I,) can get some sleep. We’ve been staying away from topical due to suppressed gag reflex, meaning she’s more likely to choke on food, but I’m thinking we may have to just feed her, rub some teething stuff on, and see if that doesn’t help.
At the moment it reminds me of that episode of Battlestar Gallactica in which every 33 minutes the Cylons would discover the fleet and they’d have to jump. In this particular case the Cylons are teething pain and jumping is drugging up my baby.
