One of the things when we got the FOSCAM 8910W that appealed to me was that if I needed to walk around the outside of house or run to the mailbox while the baby was inside sleeping I could simply pop open my viewer app and watch my baby snoring inside.
If you have neighbors you like, which I am lucky enough to have, occasionally popping out means engaging in a bit of conversation, which if you’re home all day watching baby you may not have had any human contact (other than the wee one).
So it’s nice to be able to talk to someone at the mailbox and see your baby sleeping 100 feet away, but there’s something else that came up that’s either nice or creepy depending on how you think about it.
Our friends got the same model Foscam as we did and asked for help setting it up. I went, set the thing up, slapped the info into my Foscam app and promptly forgot about it until a couple of weeks later when I was poking around attempting to see if I could break into my camera and noticed a setting I had not previously paid any attention to.
I was able to pop up a dual display of my baby’s crib and my friend’s crib 26 miles away. Since discovering that I’ve learned that they’ve been occasionally checking in on my crib as well.
And tonight at two AM I’m watching two babies sleep while attempting to get Maggie back into sleeping in her crib at least half the night.
I guess the idea of having another set of friendly eyes watching my baby occasionally is nice, and there’s really nothing to see other than a crib containing baby in either of our views so the only persons being watched are under a year old.
I also think writing at two AM while awaiting the next Maggie wakeup makes me a bit loopy.
